Understand how device registration works for campaign audience members
Overview
Employees do not need to make an account or install an app to be included in a Joyous campaign audience. This makes Joyous very easy to roll out within your organization.
We use unique token links to identify your audience members, and show them their conversations when they access Joyous using a link which includes their unique token.
Device registration
As an added security measure to ensure only the correct employee can access their Joyous conversations with their unique links, a Joyous Admin for your organization can enable Device Registration.
When an audience member accesses Joyous using their unique link, we keep a record of their internet browser and device used.
If the audience member, or someone else, attempts to access a unique link from a different device, we initially block access and ask to verify their identity.
Joyous sends a message to the audience member where they can verify their identify and continue to the Joyous platform.
Tip: This message can be sent as an email, SMS message, or chat app message (e.g. Microsoft Teams) depending on the audience member's preferred contact method, or your organization settings.
Email URL scanners
Many enterprise organizations use email URL scanners to protect their employees and networks from malicious links in emails. For example, Safe Links in Microsoft Defender for Office 365.
Email URL scanners can trigger Joyous device registration by scanning links in emails that Joyous sends to your employees, and employees can be unexpectedly considered as accessing Joyous from a new device.
We strongly recommend exempting Joyous from email URL scanners to ensure campaign audience members do not have any issues accessing their Joyous conversations.
Please contact your IT operations team to exempt Joyous URLs and email senders from any email URL scanners used in your organization:
